COLORFUL

On the way to the church                                   colorblind

Three teenagers with me

One Multi-African,

One Multi-Caucasian,

And one Multi-Asian

Repeating a question

They had heard from their friends

“So what does it feel like

To be “white?”… And they laughed

At the racism that

Was inside the question

So I interjected

That the solution to

Ending all racism

Would be for everyone

To paint each other’s hair

With lots of purple streaks

So that all people would

Have something in common

They agreed…but added

That painting some blue streaks

Would be just as pretty
